Get up to date with all latest news from Hanseatic Union
Our young staff member was recently featured in the Lynn News for their hard work in our youth upskilling project. This program gives our young team members hands-on work experience, which teaches them how to adapt to a professional environment and builds the confidence they need to succeed in their placements. We are proud of the great progress our staff member is making every day.

King's Lynn charity Hanseatic Union enjoys decade celebration supporting community
The Hanseatic Union has celebrated its tenth birthday, a charity which supports those in the community who may struggle to thrive because of facing barriers in their lives.
The name was chosen as a reminder of the role that various communities from many countries, have played in the history of Lynn.
Julie Chaplin, project lead, said: “The work we have done to support all the people in our community has been a joy to us all on our team.
Yes, it can be hard work but every day we make an impact on someone’s life, often someone who doesn’t know where to go and are at the end of their tether.
“We don’t work alone, we work alongside all the wonderful organisations in our area, and our county, and that makes us feel that we are art of an even larger community.
“We started this because we didn’t want people to feel alone and have found ourselves part of wonderfully diverse and supportive community.”

Over the years the charity’s projects have included training in English skills, information advice and guidance skills, job skills, computer skills. anything that a client suggests they need to help them live a better life.
Support is also offered in helping those facing hardship to access benefits and grants, supporting people with medical conditions and partnering with West Norfolk Council to offer help to Ukraine refugees.
King's Lynn Hanseatic Union receives funds from Rotarians for Ukraine refugees
Rotarians from Lynn’s Priory Club presented funds to the Hanseatic Union.
Following a collection in the town’s centre at the beginning of March where the club collected £5,000 for the Ukraine relief fund, a cheque for a further £1,200 in Gift Aid was presented to the Hanseatic Union, who are helping supply the needs of Ukrainian refugees who have settled in Lynn.
Receiving the cheque, Julie Chaplin, from the Hanseatic Union, said: “We have been working with the Ukrainian refugees ever since the very first people arrived in Lynn. “An initiative of the West Norfolk Borough Council was to set up a welcome centre at the council offices, and we have been manning that space on behalf of the council since March.
“We have seen all kinds of hardship and distress, but also now signs that people are relaxing slightly, starting to settle and feel more at home in our area.
“Part of this process has been moving into properties that they are renting privately.
“The money from the Priory rotarians will go a long way towards helping families set up homes.

“In the absence of their own families, we have been able to source second hand furniture and household goods, to help make their properties into homes.
“These lovely people did not choose to come here, they were forced to leave their own homes because of the war, and this donation, plus other gifts from the Rotarians, will help us take a small step to building a life in our local communities.”
